Kohler Bathtub Faucet Repair

By Admin | July 8, 2023

Kohler bathtubs are known for their quality and style. However, even the best fixtures can experience problems over time. If your Kohler bathtub faucet is leaking, dripping, or otherwise malfunctioning, you can repair it yourself with a few simple tools and materials.

Tools and Materials:

* Adjustable wrench * Phillips head screwdriver * Flat head screwdriver * Allen wrench (if applicable) * Teflon tape * Plumber's putty * Replacement faucet cartridge (if necessary)

Instructions:

1.

Turn off the water supply:

* The first step is to turn off the water supply to the bathtub. There should be two valves under the sink, one for hot water and one for cold water. Turn both valves clockwise until they are completely closed. 2.

Remove the old faucet handle:

* Once the water is turned off, you can remove the old faucet handle. There are usually two screws that hold the handle in place. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws. 3.

Remove the faucet cartridge:

* Once the handle is removed, you will see the faucet cartridge. The cartridge is a cylindrical-shaped part that controls the flow of water. Use a wrench to loosen the nut that holds the cartridge in place. Be careful not to drop the cartridge down the drain. 4.

Inspect the faucet cartridge:

* Once you have removed the cartridge, inspect it for damage. If the cartridge is cracked or worn, it will need to be replaced. 5.

Install the new faucet cartridge:

* If the cartridge needs to be replaced, insert the new cartridge into the faucet body. Make sure that the cartridge is properly seated. Tighten the nut that holds the cartridge in place. 6.

Reattach the faucet handle:

* Once the cartridge is installed, you can reattach the faucet handle. Insert the screws into the holes in the handle and tighten them with a Phillips head screwdriver. 7.

Turn on the water supply:

* Once the faucet handle is reattached, you can turn on the water supply. Check for leaks around the faucet. If there are any leaks, tighten the connections until the leaks stop. 8.

Apply plumber's putty:

* If there is a gap between the faucet and the bathtub, you can apply plumber's putty to seal the gap. Roll the plumber's putty into a rope and press it into the gap. Smooth the putty out with your finger. 9.

Test the faucet:

* Once the plumber's putty is applied, turn on the faucet and check for leaks. If there are no leaks, the repair is complete.
