Plunger
Adjustable wrench
Channel lock pliers
Putty knife
Plumber's putty
New bathtub drain assembly

Step 2: Remove the Existing Drain

Place a bucket or bowl beneath the drain to catch any water. Use an adjustable wrench or channel lock pliers to loosen the drain flange. Once it is loose, lift it off the drainpipe and remove the rubber gasket underneath.

Step 3: Clean the Drainpipe

Remove any old plumber's putty from the drainpipe using a putty knife. Clean the threads on the drainpipe with a cloth or brush.

Step 4: Apply Plumber's Putty

Roll a small piece of plumber's putty into a rope about 12 inches long. Place the rope of putty around the threads of the drainpipe flange.
