How to Remove an Alcove Bathtub

1. Gather your tools and materials.

Reciprocating saw

2. Prepare the bathroom.

Remove all of the belongings from the bathroom.
Turn off the water supply to the bathtub.
Disconnect the drain and overflow pipes.
Remove the caulk around the bathtub.

3. Cut the bathtub into sections.

Use the reciprocating saw to cut the bathtub into three sections: the front, the back, and the sides.
Be careful not to cut into the wall or the floor.

4. Remove the bathtub sections.

Use the pry bar to remove the front and back sections of the bathtub.
Use the hammer to break the sides of the bathtub into smaller pieces.
Remove all of the pieces of the bathtub from the bathroom.

5. Clean up the area.

Use the utility knife to remove any remaining caulk or grout.
Clean the floor and walls with a damp cloth.
Apply new caulk and grout around the edges of the new bathtub.
