How To Fix A Stuck Trip Lever Bathtub Drain Stopper

If your bathtub drain stopper is stuck, don't worry, you can fix it yourself with a few simple tools. Here's how:

Adjustable wrench
Pliers
Screwdriver
Replacement trip lever
(Optional) Plumber's putty

Instructions:

Step 1: Turn off the water supply. Locate the water shut-off valves under the sink and turn them clockwise to turn off the water.

Step 2: Remove the overflow plate. Use a screwdriver to remove the screws holding the overflow plate in place. The overflow plate is located on the side of the tub, opposite the drain.

Step 3: Remove the trip lever. Use pliers to gently grasp the trip lever and pull it straight up. If the trip lever is stuck, you may need to use an adjustable wrench to loosen it.

Step 4: Inspect the trip lever. Check the trip lever for any damage or corrosion. If the trip lever is damaged, you will need to replace it.

Step 5: Install the new trip lever. If the trip lever is undamaged, you can simply reinstall it. Insert the trip lever into the hole in the overflow plate and push down until it clicks into place.

Step 6: Replace the overflow plate. Align the overflow plate over the hole and secure it with the screws.

Step 7: Turn on the water supply. Open the water shut-off valves under the sink to turn on the water.

Step 8: Test the trip lever. Press down on the trip lever to make sure it opens and closes the drain stopper properly.
