How to Remove Bathtub Plug

Being unable to remove a bathtub plug can be frustrating, especially if you need to clean the drain or unclog it. Fortunately, there are several methods you can try to remove a stuck plug with minimal effort.

1. Use a Screwdriver or Pliers

Insert a flat-head screwdriver or needle-nose pliers into the small hole in the center of the plug. Gently pry or twist the plug counterclockwise to loosen it and remove it.

2. Use a Hairpin or Bobby Pin

If you don't have a screwdriver or pliers, you can try using a hairpin or bobby pin. Bend the pin into a small hook shape and insert it into the hole. Hook the edge of the plug and gently pull it up.

3. Use a Suction Cup

Wet the suction cup and press it firmly onto the center of the plug. Pull straight up on the suction cup to create a vacuum and lift the plug.

4. Use a Chemical Drain Cleaner

If the aforementioned methods fail, you can try using a chemical drain cleaner. Follow the instructions on the product label carefully. Be cautious, as drain cleaners can be corrosive.

5. Use a Plumber's Snake

In extreme cases, you may need to use a plumber's snake. Insert the snake into the drain and carefully maneuver it until you feel it catch on the plug. Twist the snake counterclockwise to loosen the plug and remove it.
