How to Install a Shower Head in the Bathtub Drain

Step 1: Gather Materials

Before starting the installation, ensure you have the following materials:

New shower head
Shower arm (if not included with the shower head)
Plumbers tape
Wrench or pliers

Step 2: Remove the Old Shower Head (if applicable)

If there is an existing shower head, unscrew it counterclockwise from the shower arm using a wrench or pliers. Remove any debris or old plumbers tape from the shower arm.

Step 3: Install the Shower Arm (if necessary)

If your shower head did not come with a shower arm, you will need to install one. Wrap plumbers tape clockwise around the threads of the shower arm, about three to four turns. Screw the shower arm into the bathtub drain, hand-tightening it as much as possible.

Step 4: Attach the Shower Head

Apply plumbers tape clockwise around the threads of the shower head, similar to the shower arm. Screw the shower head onto the shower arm, tightening it hand-tightening as much as possible. Use a wrench or pliers to further tighten the shower head, but avoid overtightening it.
