How to Fix a Bathtub Soap Holder Handle

A loose or broken soap holder handle can be a frustrating inconvenience. Fortunately, it's a relatively easy fix that can be done with a few simple tools. Here's a step-by-step guide on how to repair a bathtub soap holder handle:

Materials You'll Need:

  • Phillips head screwdriver
  • Drill (optional)
  • 1/8-inch drill bit (optional)
  • New soap holder handle (if necessary)
  • Screws
  • Anchors (if necessary)

Step 1: Remove the Old Handle

Using the Phillips head screwdriver, remove the screws holding the old soap holder handle in place. If the screws are rusted or stripped, you may need to use a drill to remove them. Drill a small pilot hole in the center of each screw, then use a screwdriver to remove the screws.

Step 2: Check the Wall Anchor

Once the old handle is removed, check the wall anchor. If the anchor is loose or damaged, it will need to be replaced. To remove the old anchor, use the drill to make a small hole in the center of the anchor. Then, use a screwdriver to pry the anchor out of the wall.

Step 3: Install the New Anchor (if Necessary)

If the old anchor needs to be replaced, insert a new anchor into the hole. Tap the anchor into place using a hammer. Make sure the anchor is flush with the wall.

Step 4: Install the New Handle

Place the new soap holder handle over the wall anchor. Align the holes in the handle with the holes in the anchor. Insert the screws into the holes and tighten them using the Phillips head screwdriver. Do not overtighten the screws, as this can damage the handle or the wall.

Step 5: Check the Handle

Once the handle is installed, check to make sure it is secure. Gently pull on the handle to ensure it does not move. If the handle is loose, tighten the screws further. If the handle does not move, your repair is complete.

Tips:

  • If the wall is made of drywall, you may need to use anchors to support the soap holder handle.
  • Be careful not to overtighten the screws, as this can damage the handle or the wall.
  • If you are replacing the soap holder handle, make sure to choose a handle that is compatible with your bathtub.
