How to Change Bathtub Faucet Handle

Adjustable wrench
Phillips head screwdriver
Flat head screwdriver

New faucet handle

Instructions:

Turn off the water supply to the bathtub. There should be a shut-off valve located under the sink or behind the bathtub. Turn the valve clockwise to turn off the water.
Remove the old faucet handle. Use the adjustable wrench to loosen the packing nut, which is located behind the handle. Once the packing nut is loose, you should be able to pull the handle off the stem.
Remove the cartridge. Use the Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws that hold the cartridge in place. Once the screws are removed, you should be able to pull the cartridge out of the faucet body.
Install the new cartridge. Insert the new cartridge into the faucet body and tighten the screws until they are snug. Do not overtighten the screws, as this could damage the cartridge.
Reinstall the faucet handle. Slide the handle onto the stem and tighten the packing nut until it is snug. Again, do not overtighten the packing nut, as this could damage the handle.
Turn on the water supply to the bathtub and check for leaks. If you see any leaks, tighten the packing nut or the screws that hold the cartridge in place until the leak stops.
